When the bottle was opened, the smell was delicious!! The problem was the ingredients were not listed at the top with the bullet points. It would have helped if the bullet points said "Ingredients listed in product description." I am allergic to bell peppers and it would have saved me having to get rid of it. I took the spice on faith because it's so well respected.Is there anything from Penzey’s that isn’t excellent?? The catalog is great reading. If I had to pay for a subscription I would.This is perfect to make good homemade chiliexcellent... tried many other brands but nothing compares.This is my favorite chili powder! I used to live close to a Penzeys retail store, and was sad to move away..but thrilled to find this is available on Amazon!! This spice is not heavy on the heat, but very full of flavor..kind of a meaty, and hearty flavor:) my family can tell the difference if I use a cheaper brand.
