Whole Nutmeg Nutmeg is the seed of a fruit produced by an evergreen tree which is native to the Banda Islands of Indonesia (otherwise known as the Spice Islands). With its rich, woody aroma and bittersweet flavor with hints of clove, ground nutmeg. It's often an ingredient in apple and pumpkin pies, muffins, puddings, mulled wine, lamb dishes, braised meats, adds a wonderfully heady flavor to cakes and cookies, cooked fruits and pies made with ginger, cinnamon, and clove. Ground nutmeg also accents stronger flavored meat dishes, such as lamb stews or tagines, and pairs wonderfully with other baking spices in savory dishes made with onions or braised vegetables. Ground Nutmeg is more convenient than grinding your nutmeg. Be sure to store it in a cool, dry place.
